Frequently asked questions
Does it recognize math formulas?
It detects formulas stored as text in the PDF and puts them into math environments. Double-check the most complex ones before compiling.
Does it compile straight away in Overleaf?
Yes: the .tex includes a preamble and basic packages, so you can upload it to Overleaf and compile it with no setup.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
Without the PRO plan, no: PDF to LaTeX runs entirely in your browser and the document never leaves your device. With PRO it's processed on our server: it travels encrypted, is handled in memory and is deleted automatically after one hour. It's never used to train models.
Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes: free, no sign-up, and no watermark on the result. Without an account or with a free account it runs in your browser, with no fixed limit on files or pages. With the PRO plan it's processed on our server, with files up to 100 MB. With the PRO plan, scanned PDFs automatically go through Advanced AI OCR (Google Cloud Vision), which reads handwriting and complex scans.
